Horses for courses, use the best tool available for the job you’re trying to do. Some people just use T-Splines as a Subd -> NURBS converter, which is fine too. T-Splines for Rhino does have some different workflows, like being able to add a partial edge loop, add an edge loop without changing the shape of the smooth surface, match to NURBS surfaces with G0, G1, or G2 continuity, or convert to NURBS to use Booleans or other NURBS tools. And finally, if blender is your tool of choice for subd modeling, that’s great. There are other improvements to speed that are possible, we haven’t gotten to them yet, unfortunately. If you need that, then you want to choose ‘Compatible’ instead.
You won’t be able to use BRep commands on the T-spline. This makes Rhino treat the T-spline as a mesh object, rather than a BRep. It’s in the T-Spline Options under Display, choose ‘Fastest’. About the speed, there is a mode that does simpler preview. If you’re used to modeling with Subds, then this probably won’t be a very big improvement, but this is done in a way that’s compatible with NURBS. If we crease the edges and delete the face with V3 of the T-spline plugin, then we would get the results in the middle. On the left are two surfaces, one with edges selected, and one with a face selected.
